7-Day Tour of Beijing and
Hohhot
Day 1 Welcome to Beijing, capital of China. Upon arrival
you will be met by our guides and transferred to hotel.
Day 2 Morning tour to Tian An Men Square,located in the
heart of the capital, and the Imoerial Palace ( Forbidden
City) - one of the greatest feats of ancient Chinese architecture.
After lunch proceed to the Temple of Heaven where the Ming
and Qing emperors prayed for good harvests. This is the
largest temple complex remaining in China today.
Cultural or acrobatic performance (if available) will be
attended in the evening.
Day 3 Full day excursion to the Great Wall - the landmark
of China. It is one of the most amazing feasts of human
labor - the only man-made construction on earth visible
from outer space. After lunch, a drive to the Ming Tombs
along the Scared Way with giant marble figures and animals
guarding the tomb area for deceased emperors of the Ming
Dynasty.
Day 4 Beijing - Hohhot by air
A 1-hour flight takes you to Hohhot, the capital of the
Inner Mogolia Autonomous Region, a city literally meaning
"Green Town" in Mongolian.
Visit Xilamuren, Jiagan Pasture, where you may ride on the
nimble and sturdy Mogolian ponies or the huge Bactrian camels
or have a ride on the Mogolian "lele" cart. To
visit a Mongolian yurt, a new experience for you.
Day 5 A full-day visit to Da Zhao Lamasery, with its 400-year
old temple, the Wutasi (Five Dagoba Temple), made of glazed
bricks carved with Buddhist symnols and inscribed in three
languages: Mongolian, Sanskrit and Tibetan, and the Ten-thousand
Avatamsaka Sutras Temple, or White Pagoda, the only best-preserved
building left in the later days of the Liao dynasty (roughly
the tenth century).
Other attractions today include a visit to the Tomb of Wang
Zhaojun, an imperial Han concubine married off to a Xiongnu
tribal chief to form an important political alliance.
